I am Karen Cahill, and I have been a Certified Massage Therapist since 2006, and then became a Certified Oncology Massage Therapist. I have been in private practice since 2007, and have worked and volunteered for several hospitals and clinics. My bodywork is especially useful for people who are seeking wellness and/or experiencing specific health conditions that may make massage challenging. I also have experience working with older clients who may be more fragile or hesitant to seek massage as a form of relief. I offer in -home bodywork for those for whom travelling is a challenge.

For my Oncology certification I trained in Davis, CA, and I have completed over 400 hours of classroom and hands on training specific to cancer. I have been exposed to an understanding of the cancer disease from both western and eastern perspectives, using specific touch therapies from each. In addition to bodywork specifics, I studied many of the various types of cancer, as well as traditional and cutting edge therapies and treatment options. I am trained in Gentle Scar Tissue Mobilization and working with pediatric patients in the hospital setting. I also have experience working with persons who have chosen to use alternative therapies to address their disease. 

In addition to my private practice, I am currently working at Cancer Support Sonoma, a program at Sonoma Valley Hospital. I formerly worked with Oncology clients in the Compass Program at Parkpoint Health Club in Sonoma. I volunteered at the Sacramento Oncology Massage Clinic for over 3 years. I have also volunteered with the Sutter Cancer Support Clinic in Santa Rosa, eventually being hired by Sutter Hospital as an Oncology Massage Therapist in their Integrative Medicine Department. I am a Preferred Provider for the Society for Oncology Massage (s4om), and I started the Northern California Oncology Massage Network.

My time and work with persons with cancer and their families has helped me understand that no two cancer experiences are the same. The bodywork I offer is individual to you and specific to your needs. I have traveled the cancer path as a personal caregiver, and as a bodywork specialist. In addition to bodywork, I am also a trained Mediator and Experiential Education Trainer. My other interests include kayaking, cycling, gardening, and adventuring with family and friends.
